My inspiration for these letters.

My inspiration for these letters.

Dear Reader,

I wanted to share one of my inspirations for these letters: my mom.

My mom is one of the most generous people I’ve ever known. She will literally feed, clothe and shelter anyone who needs it. We’ve had a multitude of friends and family come and stay with us because they needed a refuge and I can’t tell you how many times people have told me that they feel welcome and at home— because of her hospitality.

I remember at one point we had probably 18 animals in our home because she just couldn’t say no to caring for a living thing. She’s been the catalyst for getting our family together and making dinner for as long as I can remember. She’ll literally give you the shirt off of her back. And it doesn’t matter what her current circumstances look like either. She’ll spend her last dime helping out anyone she can.

She loves people really well. Like, really loves them. The sacrificial kind of love that just keeps giving.

When I think of her, I think of true beauty. The kind that is deep and timeless. In fact, when I’m speaking to many of you about your intrinsic beauty and inherent worth, I think about my mom and how I see her.

What about you? Who do you think of when you think of beauty? I’d bet it has less to do with looks and more to do with who they are deep down.

Until next week...
