How to use our cleansing oils to help support the skin on your neck

Aging is a part of life. We're often made to feel ashamed of our bodies as we age, but it's a beautiful process that should be celebrated.

Oftentimes what we see as signs of aging occurs because our skin is not properly nourished. Dehydration can cause signs of wrinkles. As skin matures, skin gets thinner and can dry out faster. There are all sorts of ways more mature skin needs different care to remain healthy.

Aging gracefully is about nourishing your skin, and taking care of one of the largest organ in your body. And, for older women that means different kinds of care.

Here's a helpful exercise to promote better skin health and support elasticity in the neck area.

STEP 1

Gently coat the neck

In this step, our esthetician Aimee is simply coating the neck with one of our cleansing oils. For the excercises we're about to do we don't want to pull at the neck skin, so this helps to coat the area and start to bring a little circulation to the neck region.

STEP 2

Press with flat of your hand

Using the flats of your hand, press gently on your neck. Aimee likes to start high near the chin and work downward with each press. This encourages circulation to the neck area. Like stretching before an exercise this gets your neck ready.

STEP 3

Gentle pumps at the base of the neck

This gentle process encourages better lymph drainage. Better lymph drainage can help promote blood flow to the area, unclog pores, and overall lead to less puffy-looking skin.

STEP 4

Slowly swipe up to your chin

Slowly swipe your hand upward on your neck to your chin while being sure that your hand doesn't tug at your skin. Your neck muscles connect from your chest to your jawline, but in our modern lives are very commonly used to just look down. Looking at our phones, cooking, cleaning, talking to kids. All of this has our heads down and doesn't allow our neck muscles the balance of being worked in an upward direction. This is a little excercise to help restore those muscles to a more natural balance.

STEP 5

Swipe the chin & jaw line

Lastly, Aimee shows a motion that swipes along your chin and jawline. Once again working and stretching our neck muscles to stretch out to their natural resting place. Reversing the everyday behavior of looking down.
